  • She left her GF for me, and I don't want her.

    So here's the deal.

I was dating this girl for just over 8 months, and we were madly in love, and she even confessed that she had thought about a civil union together. All was well and fine except for one small problem. I was 18 and just graduated, preparing to move to the east coast for school. She was 20 and still in college in Illinois, but she said she wanted to make it work.

I was skeptical, but I figured I'd never know if we didn't try, right? Right. I had a planned summer vacation before I was leaving -- we figured it would be a great first test.

She drove me to the airport, kissed me goodbye, and we went on our happy ways. To make her feel better she was going over to a friend of hers, Julie's, that night to watch movies and eat ice cream and whatever else she needed to do. Not a week into my four week vacation, she is calling me crying, starting fights, nit picking about how I don't have enough time for her. Julie's always there for me, she says. Julie thinks this is stupid. Julie says we should break up. Well I'm not dumb, and neither is Julie. Julie wanted Beth for herself, and I didn't want to deal with the thought of infidelity, so we broke it off. Have fun.

The catch is that Beth was living with me. I had the attic apartment of my parents house, and she had moved in. When I came home from vacation, all her stuff was still there. We had a few epic fights about whether I was going to throw it out, whether she was going to pay the rent she owed, and what would happen if I refused to give her stuff back and she refused to pay. Finally, we met face to face, and something in her just changed. I could tell she was struggling with seeing me, and she started talking to me more and more about how unhappy she was with Julie. I tried to be smug and play it cool but the truth was I missed her too. One day, while leaving my house to go home to Julie, I asked her what she wanted and why she was coming over to see me. It turned into a huge argument, which turned into one of the most passionate kisses of my life.

I knew at that moment that I still wanted her, dearly -- she eventually broke it off with Julie, saying that she still was in love with me. They stayed friends and roommates, Beth and I got back together, and everything was fine. She fell back into her lovey dovey, needy self. She even started calling me every day just to see how things were. i put up with it at first, glad to have her back, but now it's driving me nuts.

I realize that I wanted the passion that we had that day. I thought we could get it back, but we can't. What do I do? How to I tell her that I don't want to be with her anymore? What would you do in this situation?
